Now we are fully into autumn, I like to be prepared.
Prepared for the colds my family will invariably get, prepared for the tiredness of being back at school and work, and prepared to make healthy meals!
In this blog post, I have put together my five simple gut health hacks.
These are all things that I do during autumn to help make eating healthy easy, and to ensure you have gut friendly ingredients to hand.
1. Make lemon and ginger power shots for hot gut friendly teas
Blend three lemons and a large piece of peeled ginger with some water until smooth. Strain the mixture, then pour the liquid into ice cube trays.
You could also add a some turmeric and a pinch of black pepper or cinnamon to the blender too.
Once frozen, drop a cube into boiling water, stir, and enjoy a soothing warm drink.
It’s perfect for clearing your sinuses when a cold or flu hits!
You can watch how to make it here.
2. Make roasted root vegetables for easy meal prep
Are you like me? Love barley. Hate cooking it? 🙋♀️
Our family loves barley in soups. It gives a real creaminess to a winter soupm, but the time it takes to cook means I rarely use it.
I've never thought of freezing barley before, but it works so well!
Then you can take it out of the freezer to make quick soups and stews.
Definitely my favourite gut health hack.
