There are lots of foods and drinks that we can take to help your gut. But the best thing that you can do is to boost your gut flora/gut microbiota is introduce the gut to a wide variety of probiotic foods and drinks and allow your gut to do the work.
Probiotic foods include Moocha Kombucha, yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, tempeh, and kimchi. Here is a list of my top 6 and how they are made.
Kefir - This probiotic yoghurt drink is made by fermenting milk and is packed with good bacteria.
Miso - Miso is made from fermented soya beans, plus barley or rice, and contains a range of goodies such as helpful bacteria and enzymes.
Sauerkraut - This is finely chopped cabbage that has been fermented. This great source of probiotics, fibre and vitamins is best known as a German dish
Kimchi - This Korean speciality of fermented vegetables brings the benefits of probiotic bacteria along with vitamins and fibre
Sourdough - This is very fashionable at the moment, but there’s a good reason for that. Made by fermenting the dough, it’s more digestible than regular bread and its energy releases slowly. It makes fantastic toast too
Kombucha - Kombucha is a fermented tea and sugar drink thought to have originated in Manchuria that is full of probiotic good bacteria. It is made through the fermentation process.
