Super Summer Recipes: Crispy Kale Crisps

Crispy kale crisps, anyone?

These are SO popular in my house and they're super quick to make too. If you can get your hands on some fresh kale from a greengrocer or market then even better.

One of the beauties of homemade kale crisps is their versatility. While the classic olive oil and sea salt combination is always a hit, you can elevate the flavour by adding various spices. Some of my favourite additions include:

  • Ras el Hanout: This North African spice blend adds a warm, complex flavour with a hint of sweetness.
  • Cajun Seasoning: For a bit of a kick, Cajun seasoning brings a nice, spicy heat.
  • Chili Flakes: If you like your snacks with a bit of zing, try sprinkling over some chilli flakes.

Kid-Friendly and Crowd-Pleasing

One of the most surprising things about kale crisps is how much kids love them. They're a fantastic way to get children to eat their greens without any fuss.

The crispy texture and savoury flavour make them as appealing as regular chips, but obviously are much healthier.

They make an excellent appetiser for parties or a light snack for movie nights. I often find that they disappear almost as quickly as I can make them!

How to make kale crisps

Simply toss kale leaves with a drizzle of olive oil and sea salt.

I bake mine for about 15 minutes in the air fryer at 130oC Fan...but keep a watch on them so they don't burn.

If you haven't made kale crisps yet, you're missing out on an easy, tasty, and nutritious snack. Give them a try, and I'm sure they'll become a regular in your snack rotation.
